Job Description:

A leading international mining company is looking to hire a Superintendent Rail Operations, to ensure the safe, effective and cost efficient transportation of ore from the mine to the port. Responsible for the management of rail staff, services and infrastructure



  • Recommend and authorize expenditures for new equipment and property to increase efficiency and services of rail operations
  • Support colleagues in commercial departments
  • Managing, training, recruiting and leading train crews, station staff, signalers and other operational staff
  • Survey and analysis of safety and performance standards
  • Detailed report writing
  • Planning and implementing, train crew rosters
  • Acting to restore or maintain services effected by operational incidents, bad weather, staff shortages or equipment failure
  • Leading, monitoring and directing operational standards in accordance with health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Liaison with all section managers and superintendents to ensure effective team operation is established and maintained
  • Ensure development and maintenance of up to job procedures for all tasks performed
  • Keep abreast with industry developments    


Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Tertiary qualification in relevant field such as mechanical engineering or logistics
  • Management qualification
  • 10 15 years’ experience in railroad operations and freight industry
  • 5 years’ experience in management/ supervisory role
  • Understanding of both Mechanical and electrical maintenance fields
  • Understanding of rail track maintenance
  • High level of understanding of all relevant legislation effecting employment safety
  • Experience managing costs and budgeting  
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams
  • Knowledge of Liberian customs and legal processes
