Job Description:

Implementation and running of field-based exploration and geological programs across the company’s tenement areas with the objective of identifying potential mineral deposits. The incumbent will be a seasoned exploration professional with a strong technical background, specifically in relation to porphyry copper mineralization, and the ability to work in remote, challenging jurisdictions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Designing, implementing and managing diverse, multidisciplinary, field-based exploration programs applicable to the commodities being sought
  • Monitoring geological staff, sample preparation and field activities
  • Ensuring compliance with respect to company standard operating procedures
  • Overseeing reconnaissance to deposit-scale geological mapping exercises and the compilation of geological sections
  • Overseeing geochemical surveying, such as soil or drainage
  • Overseeing geophysical surveying and management of contractors related to such surveys
  • Management of geological and logistical contractors and consultants
  • A strong and successful track record in mineral exploration, mainly, but not exclusively, with respect to porphyry copper deposits
  • Competent in the design, implementation and management of mineral exploration programs in challenging jurisdictions, using contractors, consultants and own staff
  • Competent in target generation, the interpretation and evaluation of diverse mineral exploration datasets
  • A detailed knowledge of mineral deposit models and metallogenic modeling techniques
  • Well versed in the requirements of industry reporting codes
  • Superior computer skills with strong GIS competency, conversant with use of 3D modeling software packages.
  • Understanding of economic evaluation techniques applicable to advanced exploration


 

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in mineral exploration 4 of which must have been in exploration management
  • 5 years’ experience in porphyry copper mineralisation
  • BSC in Earth Sciences essential
  • Masters degree highly advantageous
  • A member of a recognised professional organisation
